Tiffany Nash Files to Run for State Representative

(Frankfort, KY) – For the second time in two weeks Tiffany Nash has filed for State Representative.

Originally she filed in the newly drawn 80th district. After a week of legislative drama and legal wrangling, Nash was moved to the 81st district, which covers a portion of Madison County. “To be a legal candidate for this election I had to withdraw my candidacy for the 80th District, file new paperwork for the 81st District, and pay another filing fee,” Nash stated.

“Our state needs fresh ideas and energy to solve its many problems, not backroom deals, bureaucratic red-tape, and political gerrymandering. This is exactly why the people are so disillusioned with politics and career politicians.” Nash stated.

“Much confusion was created by the unconstitutional map that the legislature created and the governor signed, and it was a waste of the taxpayers’ time and money,” Nash added.

Nash has worked as an internal auditor and accountant for Ashland, Inc. She also served as an executive recruiter and accountant with Clark Enterprises in Richmond. Nash earned a degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky. A 7th generation Kentuckian, Nash and her husband Jeremy have been married for 15 years. They have three daughters.

"I am determined to take on the insiders and special interests to solve Kentucky’s problems. I'll keep filing to run no matter how many times they move me," said Nash.

Tiffany Nash Files to Run for State Representative

January 31, 2012

(Frankfort, KY) – Tiffany Nash filed her candidacy papers with the Office of the Secretary of State to run for State Representative for District 80 which covers Casey County, a portion of Madison County, a portion of Pulaski County, and Rockcastle County.

“It is important that we attract new businesses and new jobs to Kentucky. Over 9% of our citizens are unemployed. Kentucky has an outdated tax system. Reforming the tax code will bring new businesses to Kentucky and will energize existing businesses to add to their payrolls.”

Nash has worked as an internal auditor and accountant for Ashland, Inc.  She also served as an executive recruiter and accountant with Clark Enterprises Executive Talent in Richmond.

“This is a critical time for our state. For the past several years Kentucky has relied on money from the Federal government to balance its budget and that money is gone. We have a tax system which puts Kentuckians and Kentucky businesses at a disadvantage to those from our neighboring states. Our state retirement system has an unfunded liability of $30 billion. It is time for Frankfort to solve these economic issues the way Main Street does, by practicing fiscal responsibility.”

Nash earned a degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky.

“Improving education is vital to our state’s future success.  My children attend Eastern Kentucky University’s Model Laboratory School which has given me first-hand experience in seeing EKU’s vital role in Kentucky. I will fight to make sure EKU is given top priority in the legislature.” added Nash.

She has served as a board member of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Chamber’s Economic Development Committee, President of the Madison County Republican Women’s Club, Girl Scouts leader, a volunteer with Junior Achievement, and a Master Gardener. She is an active member of St. Mark Church in Richmond.

A 7th generation Kentuckian, Nash and her husband Jeremy have been married for 15 years. They have three daughters.

“I am dedicated to making our community a better place to live, work and raise a family,” added Nash.

TIFFANY NASH SIGNS COMMMITMENT TO THE COMMONWEALTH

State House candidate pledges support for six legislative initiatives

FRANKFORT – During a press conference Tuesday in the State Capitol Rotunda, Tiffany Nash, Republican candidate for State Representative, signed and pledged support for the Commitment to the Commonwealth – a six point legislative agenda focused on making state government more efficient, effective and a cc ountable to taxpayers. More than 40 current Republican members of the State House of Representatives and Republican candidates from across Kentucky joined Nash in signing this document.

“It’s time to give government back to the people,” said Nash. “I signed this pledge because I want voters to know that I will stand up and fight for commonsense solutions that make government more fiscally responsible, a cc ountable to taxpayers and more ethical in the way it conducts business.”

By signing the Commitment, Nash pledged support for requiring legislators to forfeit their pay during a special session if they are unable to pass a budget during the regular session and giving the public at least forty-eight hours to read a bill that raises taxes or spends tax dollars before it can be voted on.

Nash also supports closing pension loopholes and stopping state legislators from receiving lucrative retirement benefits at taxpayer expense as well as requiring all state government agencies to put every expenditure and contract online in real time.

Other initiatives would require all state construction contracts to go to an open, competitive bidding process and would streamline the state’s Medicaid system to save taxpayer dollars while producing better outcomes.

Nash is running for State Representative in House District 81 which covers Madison County .
